Two Oklahoma Smallmouth Lake Records Broken

Within the first two weeks of 2020, Oklahoma has seen some impressive smallmouths pulled from its waters.

According to the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation, two anglers managed to hook pigs that set new lake records in the Sooner State.

While both fall short of the Oklahoma small state record — 8 lbs 7 oz, set on Lake Lawtonka in 2012 — both are considerable in their own right.

Fort Gibson Lake Record Smallmouth: Clifton J. Light III

Caught below the Fort Gibson dam last week, Clifton Light III of Tahlequah managed to haul in the impressive fish pictured above.

Light’s smallmouth weighed in at a stout 6 lb 3 oz.

Lake Hudson Record Smallmouth: Cory Conley

The second smallmouth lake record was caught by Cory Conley, who landed this whopper fishing an Alabama rig near Salina Creek on Lake Hudson.

Conley’s catch weighed in at a solid 6 lbs.
