Location and Fishing Information: Spanning 17-acres, Barboursville Lake is an impoundment located in Cabell County.  The lake was built relatively recently (1992) and has a maximum depth of 10 feet. The average depth of Barboursville Lake is 5 feet. Barboursville offers access to bank fishing via a trail that spans the perimeter of the lake. Boating on the lake is prohibited. Barboursville also does not prohibit camping, night fishing, or the use of live minnows.

According to the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources, Barboursville Lake contains numerous species of popular fish. Despite being a small fishery, the lake does offer decent fishing throughout the year. So, what type of fish are in Barboursville? Trout are stocked in both spring and winter (January, March). The fishery also offers channel catfish, largemouth bass, and bluegill. All bass under 12 inches in length must be released back into the lake.
