Location and Information: At 968 acres, Burnsville is one of the larger lakes in West Virginia. While still smaller than lakes like Stonewall Jackson, Summersville, Bluestone, Cheat, East Lynn and Mount Storm, it offers plenty of options for anglers looking to capitalize on quality fishing. The lake is situated in Braxton County. The area also offers excellent hunting, a boat ramp, and up to sixty camping sites. Boat storage and rental options are also available at the local marina. Night fishing and the use of live minnows as bait are permitted. Boating with unlimited horsepower is permitted as well. Anglers generally experience better fishing via boat as quality shoreline fishing is limited.

Trout are also stocked on the lake’s tailwaters between February and May every year.
