Cedar Creek Lake, West Virginia Fishing

Cedar Creek Lake Fishing Information

Location and Information: At a mere 8 acres, this lake is located within Cedar Creek State Park in Gilmer County, West Virginia. Much like Bear Rock Lake in Ohio County, this is actually a collection of three lakes. While no boating is allowed on any of the lakes, the site is known for exceptional bank fishing.

Despite its relatively small size, the lakes also provide plenty of amenities for those who are interested in more than just fishing. The state park also offers numerous campsites, miniature golf, tennis, swimming, a picnic area, bath houses and more.

Popular Fishing Species List:

According to the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources, Cedar Creek Lake contains several species of popular fish. Despite being a small fishery, the lake does offer decent fishing throughout the year. So, what type of fish are in Cedar Creek? Much like many other West Virginia fisheries, this lake receives trout stocking — once in January and again in March — with the best fishing coming in the early and late months of each year. Sunfish, largemouth bass, and channel catfish are also popular species here.
