Beech Fork Lake Information
Location and Fishing Information: Beech Fork is one of the larger fishing lakes in West Virginia. While smaller than lakes like Summersville, Stonewall Jackson, Tygart, Jennings Randolph, Bluestone and East Lynn, Beech Fork covers a respectable 720 acres.
The US Army Corps of Engineers created the lake in 1978 for the purposes of recreation, fishing and wildlife, and flood control. Beech Fork is located near the town of Lavalette, just south of Huntington. A 10 HP limit is imposed for all boaters on the lake. Camping is also available at Beech Fork State Park. This lake is a popular fishing spot for students at Marshall University.

According to the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources, Beech Fork Lake contains numerous species of popular fish. Despite being a small fishery, the lake does offer decent fishing throughout the year. So, what type of fish are in Beech Fork? Trout are stocked once per month between February and May. The fishery is also home to spotted bass, hybrid striped bass, largemouth bass, bluegill, channel catfish and walleye.
