On March 30-31, Major League Fishing held the Abu Garcia College Fishing Open on Lake Chickamauga in Dayton, Tennessee. Across the two day event, 228 boats featuring college anglers from across the country hit the water. Of those 228, an impressive 205 weighed in on one of the region’s most competitive lakes.

The winners at Chickamauga were the East Texas Baptist University squad of Cannon Bird and Jacob Keith. Their two-day haul included ten fish at 38 pounds, 13 ounces. This total just narrowly secured the victory for the ETBU squad.

In second place, Bryan College’s Conner Dimauro and Cole Sands were right on their heels. Their 38-10 finish was just ounces away from taking the title.

A comfortable gap separated the top two teams from third place. Robert Gee and Reed Noyes from the University of Tennessee managed an impressive 35-12 on ten fish.

Rounding out the top five were Murray State’s Montilino and Pucket with 35-12 and Emmanuel College’s Akins and Carey with 33-15. Of note is the fact that Murray State’s squad only weighed in nine fish.

Premier Angler correspondent Chase Sansom and partner Cody Fuller of Marshall University ended the open with a respectable 17-6 on six fish.
